4 internautes sur 5 ont trouvé ce commentaire utile.Pour tous les amateurs de second degréPar Guinea PigL'histoire générale, qui se déroule lentement en arrière plan, par touches parfois nébuleuses, n'est pas la raison principale pour laquelle j'ai apprécié ce livre.L'intrigue parait intéressante, certes, mais sans rien de particulièrement original. Très vite le lecteur comprend qu'il lui faudra patienter, et lire les livres suivants, pour découvrir toute la trame. Cela n'a rien de lassant, car le livre est volontairement traité ainsi.L'auteur nous présente dans ce livre son acte 1, où évoluent de nombreux personnages, mais où trois d'entre eux tiennent la vedette. Le style de J.A est très visuel ; il y a de multiples scènes d'action, bagarres en tous genres, sportives, sanglantes ou cruelles (pas tout à fait ma tasse de thé mais qui feront le bonheur de certain(e?)s), ainsi que de nombreuses descriptions, suffisamment courtes pour ne pas être ennuyeuses. Il y a également de fascinantes scènes de société (tout à fait ma tasse de thé !) où les personnages principaux évoluent de manière souvent désopilante.En effet le point fort de J.A est certainement l'humour ; il est le plus souvent horriblement, atrocement, abominablement drôle, mais aussi parfois simplement drôle, avec malice.L'acte 1 nous présente ainsi ses trois personnages principaux, fort occupés à tourner en rond dans leurs cages tels de pathétiques hamsters, bien incapables d'expliquer pourquoi ils continuent à faire tourner leur roue. Il se posent pourtant souvent la question, chacun leur tour, mais sans trouver de réponse satisfaisante...Un autre point fort de l'auteur (il a peut-être aussi quelques points faibles, sans doute...comme l'abus du verbe "to peer", peut-être ?) est de réussir à nous faire apprécier ses personnages, contre toute attente.Il y a Logen, un mercenaire sanglant et sans-pitié, que l'on découvre humain, compatissant et d'une grande finesse sous son emballage de brute épaisse.Il y a aussi Jezal, jeune noble incroyablement centré sur sa personne, tel une héroïne de Jane Austen qui n'aurait pas encore repris le droit chemin, mâtiné d'un peu du Prince Charmant de Shrek 2, qui nous serait insupportable s'il n'était pas si régulièrement châtié par les circonstances, et s'il n'était pas parfois capable d'une étincelle de lucidité(avant de replonger rapidement dans une bienheureuse auto-satisfaction ou dans un pathétique apitoiement sur sa personne).Il y a enfin Glokta, héros déchu, transformé en une sorte de monstre par la torture, amer et aigri, dont les monologues intérieurs, où il vitupère contre son entourage et contre les escaliers, oscillant entre auto-dérision et élans de haine soigneusement dissimulés, valent à eux seuls la peine de lire ce livre !Ce style conviendra à un certain style de lecteurs, mais pas forcément à tous les lecteurs de fantasy classique. Mais ceux qui aimeront l'aimeront certainement beaucoup !
